This protected natural space is currently home to a significant number of species, among which are some endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, such as the Spanish Imperial Eagle, the Iberian Green Woodpecker or the Iberian Magpie, which have one of their largest refuges in this area. world scale.

Crossing vast meadows of holm oak and cork oak, we will be able to enjoy the flight of numerous birds of prey, especially Griffon and Black Vultures, the latter with a healthy population that revolves around 80 breeding pairs in the area, constituting one of the 5 existing colonies of the species in Andalusia, and that today we can enjoy thanks to the great conservation efforts that have been carried out during the last 20 years, focused on alleviating or avoiding the Damage suffered from the use of poisoned baits, electrocution on power lines or direct human pursuit.

Depending on the time of year, we will be able to observe other species such as the restless Dartford Warbler, the Common Shrike or the Great spotted cuckoo, more linked to cattle-raising areas, which it uses as breeding quarters.

Other abundant birds in the area are the European Owl, the Hoopoe, the Golden oriol or the Hawfinch, as well as other species linked to rupicolous environments such as the Blue rock thrush, the Red-billed Chough or the Black Stork.

During the tour, we will interpret the landscape and establish observation points with optical equipment (binoculars and telescope).

Our guides will help you to recognize the species observed by offering you a series of guidelines, as well as to detect and identify them by their song. In addition, you will have a bird guide available so you can consult each species.
