DESCRIPTION

In this activity we will make a guided tour in 4x4 by expert local guides, to observe, listen and photograph the Berrea del Ciervo and the Ronca del Gamo at sunrise or sunset in Sierra Morena de Jaén.

 

We will get to know the habitat of the Iberian Deer and the Fallow Deer, their ecology and behaviour, and we will make several stops at strategic places to look for them with optical equipment (binoculars and a telescope).

 

The Sierra de Andújar is, due to its extensive hunting tradition, one of the best places in Spain to enjoy this natural phenomenon that begins during the month of September. It also coincides with the snoring of the Fallow Deer for a certain period of time, this being shorter than the bellowing.

We will start the day at dawn or mid-afternoon, looking for the different species that this corner of Sierra Morena offers us. In the vicinity of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, we can relatively easily observe different species of wild fauna, especially deer, fallow deer or mouflons.

Pastures of holm oaks, cork oaks, piruétanos, heather, rockrose, strawberry trees, lentisks, or different aromatic plants typical of the Mediterranean mountains, among an infinite labyrinth of granite "bowls" will accompany us all the way, giving us a general vision of the soft and characteristic landscape from Sierra Morena.

The activity is carried out in very small groups.

 

Of course, observing without filling your stomach is complicated, so we include a free-range breakfast or afternoon snack of local products to taste in the field (depending on the activity schedule).
